Rosenblum Zinfandel 2006
-Richard Sauret Vineyards-
 Over the years, Rosenblum has hailed the "mecca for zin-fanatics". Dr. Kent and Kathy Rosenblum has been passionately making wine for over three decades, and are one of North America's most awarded producers of Zinfandel.
Yesterday, we tasted Rosenblum's Richard Sauret Vineyards 2006. We found aromas of blackberry, black cherry, toasted vanilla, and spice. The flavors have briary, brambly dark berry fruit, as well as chocolatey, earthy, and peppery flavors.
The alcohol was not overpowering, so we feel this Paso Zin will pair well with a myriad of dishes.
The food and wine lovers at Calvert suggest: braised veal shanks, rosemary lamb chops, Steak Diane (a creamy brandy and spicy mushroom sauce), and chicken pilaf w/ cherry tomatoes and mushrooms.
