Mike Pintek Bio

Mike Pintek was born and raised in York, Pa. but spent lots of time as a child in Westminster, Md., in the care of his grandmother, and as a result he loves hard-shelled crabs more than lobster. As a kid, Mike used to record himself pretending to anchor NASA spacecraft launches.

Mike began his broadcast career at a college radio station in his hometown, but soon moved on to become News Director for WKBO Harrisburg, PA., Anchored and reported morning drive news at WASH-FM in DC (Mike"s favorite story : "trying to interview very stoned and incoherent “Legalize Marijuana” protestors across from the Reagan White House.") and Midday host at KDKA Pittsburgh, PA among other stops. Mike has also been a TV host and “Newsbreak” anchor in Pittsburgh.

Mike appeared in a movie as a television reporter in “Dead and Alive:  The Race for Gus Farace”  with Tony Danza, Samuel L. Jackson ("a really great guy") and Ted Levine.  Mike also broke the Three Mile Island Accident story in Harrisburg by managing to get a call through to the reactor control room technician who told him:  “I can’t talk now — we’ve got a problem!”  ("Despite being traumatized with fear of nuclear annihilation by the TMI accident I remain an ardent supporter of nuclear power.")

During a couple of trips to the Middle East for live talk show broadcasts:
Mike dodged softball sized rocks thrown by Hezbollah on the Israeli border with Lebanon, got to see the pyramids in Egypt ("although I thought they’d be bigger!") and climbed Mt. Sinai in pitch-black darkness to see the sunrise.

Mike currently lives in an undisclosed location (just like Dick Cheney) with his black cat, Halle.
